We already know what a front-end web developer needs to know. Now, a back-end web developer needs to have a decent knowledge of Python, Java, Ruby, and PHP. Having a decent idea of this programming language will provide a back-end web developer a lot of ease while making the websites statutorily perfect. 

In addition, the salary of a back-end web developer is more than what a front-end developer gets paid. So, as you can see, the biggest difference between the two types of professions is the functionality of their works.
